‘Dab-It-On™’ – the fast way to secure assets

Our scientists will create a water-based solution for your exclusive use containing a unique ‘data-set’, with all the information you want uploaded onto it. This can be the date of manufacture of a particular engineering part or the details of your ownership of, say, a precious item of jewellery – whatever you decide you want recorded.

We charge a small monthly subscription fee that covers all the costs should your property be lost or stolen then recovered, including forensic analysis at our laboratories, the preparation of witness statements by our scientists and, even, attending Court on your behalf to provide expert testimony, if your ownership is disputed.

Suitable for the marking of all manner of assets including personal possessions (such as jewellery, laptops, sports equipment, etc…), business assets, vehicles and boats, SmartWater ‘Dab-it-On™’ traceable solution is as robust as it is versatile.

Once applied it is almost impossible to remove and can only be seen under UV light. Forensic analysis provides conclusive proof of ownership.

There’s no need to log serial numbers either but, please note that, unless specifically requested, we’ve stopped including microdots (please see below our reasons for doing so).

The following two videos are courtesy of the police and sheriff departments in the UK and USA, which explain their reasons for choosing SmartWater and how it should be used to protect valuable assets:

Microdots:   Although totally unnecessary from a technical standpoint, SmartWater has, in the past, supplied microdots within our solutions, in the belief that it could provide the police with ‘instant information’. However, unless specifically requested, we have decided not to supply them any longer, on the grounds that, in twenty years of operating, we have not received one request from the police to provide ownership details from a recovered microdot – possibly explaining why, as far as we know, evidence provided by microdots has never secured a conviction in the Criminal Courts. Furthermore, as former police officers ourselves, we believe that asking an officer to take his eyes off a suspect to find a microdot with a microscope is potentially dangerous. Fundamentally, it is our firm belief that whole concept of expecting operational officers to use microscopes in the field, while theoretically viable, is impracticable in reality

Engineering applications:

Increasingly, Original Equipment Manufacturers are using our traceable liquid to support their QC processes.

Suitable for embedding within plastics and rubber, with no adverse effect on performance, the inclusion of a SmartWater traceable liquid within, or on, the manufactured part reduces the costs of ‘traceability’ by speeding up product recall times, with the added benefit of providing a cost effective a brand protection feature.

SmartWater was the first forensic coding manufacturer to achieve a Grade A External classification as part of a Publicly Available Specification  (PAS 820:2012). This means our forensic products have been independently tested to last the equivalent of 5 years in external weather conditions.

In addition, SmartWater forensic laboratory is compliant with the requirements of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and the UK’s Forensic Science Regulator.
